There is a lot of buzz going on regarding
Sony's new
AVCHD high definition camcorder that it has in the works. This exciting new HD camcorder will be compatible with
"E Mount" interchangeable lenses used on it's new
ultra compact DSLR the
NEX-3 and
NEX-5. In addition, it will also except "A Mount" lens from the existing "a" DSLR lineup using a mount adapter.
Sony is expected to have a model by this fall.
Looks like
Mazda's rotary-powered will be coming back after 2011. Mazda sold only 128
RX-8s in April of 2010 for a total of 428 year to date.
The
Wankel-engined sports car was recently refreshed in 2009 and currently meets all U.S. emissions standards. This 1.6 liter underpowered sports car is not going to be missed. It didn't live up to the expectations left by the
RX-7. It's been rumored that the RX-7 is in production. It will be
rotary powered and should arrive sometime in calendar year 2013.
LeftlaneNews spy photographers have snapped a few photos of a Lexus LFA prototype. Since the
Lexus LFA has been out for a while it's interesting that Lexus might be working on something new. The
Lexus LFA prototype camouflage depicts fake panels especially in the front fender near the A-pillar. Normally when we see a piece of camouflage like this, it's often hiding a port of some kind. GM’s plug-in hybrid test mules have been spotted with a similar camo patch. Since
Toyota/
Lexus have been pioneers in hybrid technology it would be nice to have a hybrid sports car on the market.
Honda has been known for a couple things, it's performance super car the
Acura NSX, the
S2000 convertible and it's
Type-R branded vehicles. I remember back in the days, ricer cars would put Type-R badges to feel special... But owning an actual
Type-R was something special. You get suburb suspension, a high revving motor, and decent horsepower. Now Honda has confirmed that it is ending production of it's
Honda Civic Type-R 4 door vehicle. The Civic Si is the closest thing we had to the Type-R since Integra. There's no word if another Civic Type R is in the works, especially with Honda's larger focus on hybrid cars taking up most of the research and development money.
After tons of photos leaked on the net of the rumored
FLIP SlideHD camera it's finally official. It looks a pretty cool gadget. It has a touchscreen and a widescreen. News features include image stabilization and a 1080p sensor with better low-light performance. With a price of $279, it has some mixed reviews. The Slide is basically a really chunky Mino HD when in camera mode -- you get the same buttons and the same interface, just implemented via touchscreen.
After reading some reviews, I was actually expecting a lot more. The
Kodak Zi8 on the other hand has the
external microphone jack, which I can find very useful. The
Nikon S8000 offers
720p recording at up to ISO 3200, a 10x optical zoom lens, and a three-inch, 921,000-dot LCD that will absolutely crush the screen on the Slide.
For right now, I will wait and see what the competition has to offer... Hopefully Kodak will release its next generation of portable video cameras soon.
